    BSOD on Startup

I'd appreciate any direction on this from the esteemed gurus on this forum...

Brand new Dell laptop, running W7. I'm getting an intermittent BSOD on startup, generally every other time I boot I get the screen. I get the option to run in safe mode, but if I choose to start W7 normally, the system reboots just fine. Here is the run down:

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 50
    BCP1: FFFFFA809A58B160
    BCP2: 0000000000000000
    BCP3: FFFFF88005FCE037
    BCP4: 0000000000000005
    OS Version: 6_1_7600
    Service Pack: 0_0
    Product: 768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\052410-24289-01.dmp
    C:\Users\Rik\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-259242-0.sysdata.xml

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

It looks as if usbvideo.sys is causing the issue. I suggest going to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers and rename usbvideo.sys to usbvideo.sys.old.

    Code:

    BugCheck 50, {fffffa809a58b160, 0, fffff88005fce037, 5}
    Probably caused by : usbvideo.sys ( usbvideo!LoadPowerLineFrequency+2eb )

Thanks, Jonathan. I'll give it a shot and let you know if the problem persists.

Out of curiosity, what would have caused this? I've only had this machine for about a week and I haven't done much more than download driver updates and a copy of Open Office.

Perhaps the drivers were corrupted in the beginning, I'm not sure.
