Been getting frequent popups telling me my gfx card has stopped responding, screen blacks out and then comes back on sometimes, or just bluescreens on me. Graphics card drivers have been updated along with all my other drivers (i believe). I installed win7 about 2 days ago onto a brand new hdd, however i dumped approx 80gig worth of stuff (games/music/etc.) onto it off an old hdd which i was running vista on.

Any and all help greatly appreciated
    Shawn

Okay, here's the deal. The dmps do not tell the cause straight out. We will have to guess at it.

I cannot say that AVG is the cause, but I do know AVG causes its fair share of BSODs. I would suggest removing it completely and then installing Microsoft Security Essentials instead. Use this removal tool: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util...removerx64.exe

AVG is not pointed to as a cause, but even if it's not, you may be happier with the performance of MSE.

Here are the summaries for your bugchecks 1A and 3B, respectively. Both taken from here: BSOD Index

Usual causes: Device driver, memory, kernel

Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory
As you can see, memory and device driver are suspects.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 passes.

To test for bad drivers, please enable driver verifier: Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers

Please UPDATE your chipset drivers on the motherboard manufacturer or computer manufacturer's site:

oh man, so much work to do! =P

You should get paid for your work Jonathan, iv never had such swift professional assistance when dealing with IT, very big ty =)

Edit: im going to hang off the driver verifier option as a last resort as this is the only comp i have access to and the verifier method sounds sketchy/problematic at best. Ill get onto the memtest and AVG fixes first and report back.

    Thanks again

So i went about removing a few of those unnecessary apps (asus PC probe and some others) and its been quite stable ever since, seems that PC probe was the culprit. If anything new comes up or changes ill update, until then however, thank you very much for your quick solutions =)

Long story short, the problem turned out to be the Asus BIOS not liking windows7 and the nVidia drivers. To fix my black screen/AVG freezing problems i simply downloaded some utility called WinFlash and updated the BIOS with the latest file from the Asus website.

Thanks again for your help and i hope this solution helps other people in my situation =)
