Blue Screen Shutdown Problem with Thinkpad...

Hi,

I have been posting on the Lenovo forum with no success, so thought I might see if someone here can help me out... I have a new Lenovo T510 running Windows 7 Pro 64. When I close the lid, it should go into standby, but about 50% of the time, it will not shut down. If I just leave it alone, it will eventually reboot itself and give me this error message:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 1000009f
BCP1: 0000000000000004
BCP2: 0000000000000258
BCP3: FFFFFA8003B7EB60
BCP4: FFFFF800041E8510
OS Version: 6_1_7600
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Windows\Minidump\061310-20264-01.dmp
C:\Users\Brian\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-37034-0.sysdata.xml

I have attached the minidump file in case that means anything to anyone. I would appreciate any suggestions on what to look for. Thanks!

The single dump file blames iaStor.sys - a component of your Intel storage controller drivers.
Please update this by downloading and installing this driver from the Intel website: Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology

Also, please remove or update these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.
Please use the following instructions to locate the most currently available drivers to replace the one's that you uninstall OR remove:
Quote:
How To Find Drivers:
- I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box below. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Here's the older drivers. Please pay particular attention to any dated 2008 or earlier:
Code:
mdmxsdk.sys Mon Jun 19 17:27:26 2006 - Conexant Modem Diagnostic Interface x86 Driver - http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html#mdmxsdk.sys
pcouffin.sys Tue Dec 05 09:39:30 2006 - low level access layer for CD devices (A part of many different CD/DVD burning programs) - http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html#pcouffin.sys
smiifx64.sys Mon May 12 05:01:13 2008 - SMI Driver for Lenovo system - http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html#smiifx64.sys
Tppwr64v.sys Wed Oct 18 04:40:21 2006 - ThinkPad Pwr Mgmt Port - http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html#Tppwr64v.sys
If this doesn't fix things, then please zip up and upload ALL memory dump files from the Minidump directory./

Okay, thanks... I looked at that stuff and tried reloading it, but it crashed again. I am going to be gone this week, so will have to look at it again when I get back.

HI couver
I'm using Thinkpad too, I got your problem sometime before, very annoying, I tried to update the bios , update old drivers and everything has been fine then. Besides that, look at any other USB devices such as wireless mouse, make sure u turn it off before close the lid, I'm sorry if I'm off topic just very excited to know u are thinkpad user too

This one was caused by your storage controller Iastor.sys You should update the driver

As an update... I deleted and reloaded the iastor stuff and it didn't solve the problem. So, I reloaded my machine to factory settings, then installed all the windows updates, but none of the hardware updates from Lenovo. It is running fine. There is a list of 10 or so things that could be updated, but since I am not having any other problems, I am going to leave it alone for now.
