BSOD 0x8e

I am going to assume it is the video card since I replaced it a few months ago and only after installing the card started getting these errors, my theory is that my motherboard is not supporting the card. I have an ASUS m2r32-mvp board and a new Sapphire radeon 4850 card. I think all I need to do is update my bios but I have no clue how to do that and the ASUS website is just giving me the run around.

If possible, temporarily swap the card out.

Choose Motherboard model, then you should find the BIOS update in the list of downloads. Try to use the DOS updater rather than the in-Windows updater if you can (less chance of a failed update).

Thanks for the advice... I did everything you said did memtest, did the HD thing and yet I'm still getting the same errors. Any other advice you could give me would be of great help, I'm thinking that this computer is just toast and I should go about saving the money to get a new one.

With hardware errors the only way to be sure if a part is causing an error is to remove that part from the system and see what happens.

oops, didn't see that last post, I tried to download the bios but they don't have a windows 7 update for it... should I go for something else and download the vista instead or could that be indeed the whole problem, that my motherboard just is too old?

Go for the Vista version - the V.1109 BIOS was released in May 2010 so it should be compatible.

Download the file to a USB drive - then refer to your motherboard manual for the procedure for updating your BIOS from a USB drive (I believe it is called EzFlash?)
