"refers to a location that is unavailable"

Hi all, I just cut (ctrl-x) some data from a CF card to my laptop's desktop today, and now when I turn on the computer it is simply not there! If I do a search for the folder, the computer lists it under the place it is supposed to be, but when I double-click on the folder I get the response "refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be ...bla bla bla".
I have a dual-boot with ubuntu, this smells somewhat like a problem with partitioning or disk tables... or maybe not? Any suggestions on how to get these files back?

    Welcome to SF

I just had an idea that I don't know if it is your case, if not, please forgive me for giving you wrong solution:
Do you keep your files hidden mode? To make sure, Computer--> Tool tab--> folder option--> view tab--> choose show hidden file, folder and driver

    Give it a try
