    Automatic windows 7 reset?

For whatever reason my computer reset itself. I only say this because I noticed a feature added to my start button that said reset. I've never seen this before any of this happened. I'm also noticing that my downloaded themes are gone and my task bar will not show what pages the programs have open. All I get is the name of the program with the red x to close the resolution was set to 800x600 on startup and my boot up screen is also covered in dashes, so I'm guessing somethings really wrong. Could my hard drive be corrupt? This will be the 7th? time I've installed windows 7 and its getting old.

I should also add that my fan has been on this whole time since this happened as well... ugh.

Anyone experience anything like this? I did a system restore to a few days back and its still the same.

Halp! Problems seem to occur a few days after I do any critical windows updates.

    Hello,

I suggest for now to run a virus scan.

A free program with good detection rates.

I'm using the full version of ESET, and always run scans... I have discovered however that I've lost my video card drivers, again. I'm guessing its this dell and the sli configuration that I never get to use because games run better without it. Still I've had so many problems with this computer, maybe I should just call Dell and shock up it as a lemon.

Now to deal with that.... grrr.

    Hello,

Have you ran a chkdsk command from an elevated command prompt? If not, try running it so we can narrow down the causes.

How long have you bought your laptop/PC? Did your laptop/PC go with window xp, vista or 7? Have you updated the BIOS from manufacture's site?

    Hey thanks for the feedback.

I spoke with dell and we went through the whole remote controlling of my computer, we tried various things but looks like one of my sli'ed video cards is bad. They'll be sending me two more for replacement. Looking around the net I came across quite a few problems concerning the Dell xps 630i, dated a afew years back but some with the same problems I'm experiencing.

We ran a few test and everything else seems to be fine, they also updated the bios, something I had no clue I was supposed to do, so now I have a cool new dell bios graphic instead of that crappy pixelated dell logo.

I should be getting the new video cards soon, hopefully this fixes the problem, if not I gotta reinstall windows 7.

Thanks again, I'm sure Ill be back soon.
