Looks like a RAM problem. I'll contact a couple of memory experts and ask them to stop in.

Please be patient as they are in a different time zone.

    hihallie3,

Can we get some more info on your hardware?

To start looking for your RAM issues we'll need more details.
The Asrock motherboard site lists these MOBOs for the 1156 socket. Can you clarify which MOBO you have?
    Which i5 CPU?
Do you have the p/n for the ripjaws RAM?

RAM testing is the process of trying to find bad RAM sticks and bad RAM slots, it is very important to test the RAM in different slots. If you ran the test for both RAM sticks in the same slot, then we have not determined the integrity of the slots.
When you ran the memtest86, which sockets did you have the RAM in?

    Which drivers have you updated?

What BIOS version are you using?

Did you update the chipset drivers?

Are you using AHCI or IDE settings in BIOS?

Are the BIOS settings for RAM at default or have you changed them?
The default settings for the RAM are usually low settings to keep from damaging your RAM, this may cause problems as you've seen.

This is a lot of questions to answer but these will help to narrow down the possible causes.

i updated all the drivers i could find online, in the device manager and on the sites i know like nvidia

D/L CPU-Z and post a snip of the Memory and SPD tabs.

This will tell what the current settings are at.

    here you go

i only have 2gb of ram in at the moment. usually the other stick goes in slot 1.
i am currently only using 2gb as i was unable to use the pc with 4gb as it kepy BSOD all the time, however as has happened before when i took it down to 2gb it didnt BSOD however im sure it will eventually as it did before. if you need the screen shot of my pc with 4gb in it i will have to try to do it however it may be difficult.

Looks ok, your running at JEDEC #4.

Run the memory assessment speed test, instructions are on the first page of the below thread.
    What's your memory assessment speed?
This info will tell if it's running as it should be.

Go to BIOS and check the voltage for the RAM, should be VID.

I'll look at your MOBO info and RAM, for any possible issues and reply with anything I find.

Even with 2Gb RAM that is low.
    This indicates a problem, somewhere.

Are you using AHCI or IDE settings in BIOS?

Did you update the chipset drivers?

Also need to get the voltage setting for the RAM.

I'm still looking up info on your hardware, will post when I find anything.
