Windows 7: Startup OMG NEED HALP!

Startup OMG NEED HALP!

Hello people! MY computer info should be in my profile or something but i'm running Windows 7 x64 and so anywho I was getting out of sleep mode running chrome with a ton of tabs because i could with all that RAM and then my computer froze because several of those tabs had flash running and I assume it was too much for my processor to handle :|

So I had to force shut down my compy since ctrl+alt+del and Ctrl+esc wouldn't work after 20 minutes and I killed my compy. I restarted and my keyboard functioned during the startup and RAID and whatever but once it gets to the login screen it wouldn't work at all, also my mouse's light is on but it wont work either.

The HP diagnostic tool from the startup menu has verified that my RAM is 100% functional and my Processor passed inspection with flying colors.

Also all three safe modes, regular, networking, and command prompt, all return the same original error.

I also used the windows update disc to "repair my system" and it went through with that but it still wouldn't work. Then I also made the windows update disc perform a full system startup scan which it performed and passed.

Another neat tidbit is that a USB 1->4 adapter that I have powers up at startup but when windows begins starting up the four lights that indicate that the four ports are functioning turn off.

Oh sheeyit, update, my WDC WD10EADS-65LSB1 I assume this is the non C:// drive (the D://?), i just assume, has failed a smart test. it tells me to back up my important data, lul can't do since keyboard and mouse suck, and contact HP support.

All other drives and CD drives, and the Boot path passed inspection. Do you guys have any solutions?

If you have another computer use that to back up the data of your failing drive ASAP.

Unplug and re-plug the keyboard/mouse a few times and see if they work then.

Can you be more specific as to your error - from your post I do not understand exactly what error you are getting (apart from the USB devices not working)

honestly there was no error code, just no reaction to my key pressing while they have power. IT works outside of the login screen such as on recovery manager, booting to CD, all boot options but not Windows 7. I'm sorry but I think I'm being super clear...

Sorry for the DP, but is there any way I could create a startup drive for like linux or XP on my flashdrive?

Error codes are very useful - hence my request.

Do you have any PS/2 peripherals that you could try?

It sounds to me like there is something wrong with your drivers however you need to be able to control your system to fix it.

EDIT: Just saw your second post. Ubuntu Download with very good instructions: Download | Ubuntu

When you use Ubuntu it might not pick up the Windows Filesystem straight away - if it doesn't then follow these instructions: Mounting Windows Partitions in Ubuntu

Let us start from the beginning. Slowly.

You computer is freezing right? the only way to reboot is by pushing the button? There are no error messages correct?

If you are getting Blue screens we need that info. If not then go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search)

Go to the windows logs>application tab.

Look for critical errors (they have red in the left column).

When you find them tell us what the event ID and source codes are

I already started from the beginning in my first post sir... No there are no blue screens, my system can load windows normally and the C:// partition is fully functional. However, my other partition, the system image, is not functioning. And the whole drive itself failed HP's surface scan tests 1 and 2 under the HP Hardware diagnostic tool. The drive is called WDC WD10 EADS-65L5B1 SCSI Disk. Edited because I thought there was a C drive and a D drive but they're both partitions on the same drive.

I have not gotten any error codes, only the description i have provided.

Once windows boots, i.e. at the login screen, the mouse and keyboard and all other HID devices fail.

I'll try that PS2 device if I can find out old ones, Memory and CPU both pass all HP tests

Haha Ubuntu's less than a gigabyte?

Ok Ubuntu didn't work so I started backing up my Hard Drive, its doing it on dual layer DVDs, I bought 30 of them because it said it needed about 27 for 377 GB of data. It's finished program files, system files, and its currently on its first user. One Dual layer dvd is 8.5 GB and get this, it's 26% done and its still on its first DVD. Whats going on here???

Compression? - Most back-up software (incl. Windows Backup) compresses data.
