Here's the said news:
1. I used compressed air to clean the vents and the fan
2. I am using a cooling pad and I just iamed my room fan onto the computer
ALL THIS DIDN"T HELP. It got worse. I had a couple more Blue screens with the same details. My screen failed numeros times and here's what's happening: it eather just don't show anything at all or is I am able to get the flash screen and start windows - it gives me blue screen before getting to the welcome screen.
I has been able to log in safe mode so far but it takes 2-3 attempts with just black screen before it let's me. I uninstalled nvidia, reinstalled it, messed with nvlddmkm.sys - nothing. It's getting worse.
What I did so fat the IS working (for now) is disabled display driver in safe mode. With that it let's me start in regular mode and even lets me change resolution to normall 1400x900 but videos look horrible. slow and jumpy.
I read lots about this NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS failing with similar simptoms cause of overheating or some other reason, I'm not sure and HP is not dealing with it (at least not for my laptop).
I guess while I'm thinking about replasing the laptop I wanted to ask:
me disabeling the 8600M GS's driver didn't disable the video card itself right? (I don't know much about hardware...) What is my laptop using now to show grafics? Logically if it was a hardware problem and the vide card was dead I wouldn't be able to get ANY picture period right? Or I'm missing something? Doesn't it mean that it is still the driver that is bad and I have some hope???
