    Startup repair fails

Recently my PC stopped responding, so i waited (an hour), and my PC still didn't respond(no Ctrl ALT Del, no Ctrl Shift Esc) so I cut the power supply(probably not the best thing to do) and restarted. After starting up the login screen didn't appear, instead i got a black screen(PC still running), so I cut the power supply(again probably not the best thing to do) and restarted. Like I expected I got a BIOS error screen telling me there went something wrong and asking to start normally or to start startup repair. No matter what i chose, I always got the following error:

    Code:
    Status: 0xc000000e

Info: The boot selection failed because a required boot device is inaccessible
It advised me to use the installation DVD and select repair system. So I did what it said But the setup was unable to repair my PC. It asks me if I want to send details to MS In this dialog I choose view problem details and I get this:

    Code:

The error messages point to your HD, run a chkdsk /f/r is possible.

The "sys" file has no information in google so I suspect it might be a virus. Run a virus scan if you can boot from safemode (F8)

I was unable to boot from safe mode(actually unable to boot at all from my HD)And could only use the installation DVD to boot so I was unable to run a scan of the file on my PC. I ran a scan of the file I uploaded, on another PC with MS Security essentials, it was clean. I also ran a chkdsk /f/r on my C-drive and my D(boot)-drive. I know how to run chkdsk /f/r but I have absolutely no clue of what the results mean. So I don't know what to do now.

    The results(cmd after test):

At first I hoped The problem would be solved because the check on D:\ said:
    Code:
Windows has made corrections to the file system.
But when I rebooted I got the same error as before.

I don't know what to do, I hope you can tell me.

I was wondering if you ever found a fix for this? I found this thread while searching a problem my friends computer is having. I am getting the exact same error codes as you are and can't get this drive to boot Windows. Even tried hooking it up to my computer to just view the contents of the drive and that wouldn't work. He said he got a virus and Norton told him to install some stuff and it rebooted and wouldn't load again.

I couldn't fix it, I just backed up my entire drive to an external hard disk, reinstalled windows and restored the backup.

you can access your files by choosing drivers during startup repair, locating a .sys file, choosing open with, notepad, in notepad choosing open and select all files and then you can use copy/paste to move them to an external hard disk or you could try backup software that you can burn to a cd and boot that CD

If you have a External HD, you could copy & paste your data.
Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
than copy & paste your data to new HD Drive or install.

    Try this.

Download from the internet Hiren's Boot CD, burn it on a CD-R media and put it into your disk drive and boot from CD/DVD drive. You will be taken to the menu and one of the choises will be Mini Windows XP. Choose that and when it starts Mini Windows XP, go to Start, than HBCD Menu. Go to Programs, than AntiVirus/Spyware, than choose Avira Free Antivirus. It will run in a Command Prompt window and than just follow the instructions and let it work.
