Can Anyone Help Me?
Let see if I can explain this right because I know nothing about computers.
I sent my laptop in for repairs and they used my vista recovery discs to reformat the hard drive, and that wiped out my installation of Windows 7, when i got the laptop back I reloaded 7 back on it.
I reloaded all my software without any problems, but I started having problems when I retrieved all my info that I had backed up in my Western Digital external hard drive. Now when I go to reboot the laptop it will shut down normally but when it restarts the windows 7 logo will show and then the screen will go black telling me that it needs to check the drive for corupt files and will have a count down of ten seconds for me to press any key to cancell disk checking, if i dont touch any key then it will count down to the number 1 and stay on 1. The laptop will show that screen for approximately 20 minutes and I can also see the hard drive lights flashing as if the hard drive is doing something. After 20 minutes the screen shuts off but the computer is still running with the hard drive lights still flashing. No matter what i try to do to it after that I can get no response and am then forced to do a hard shut down ie-hold down power button.
I can get it to restart/boot up as long as I do push any key during the countdown. I tried to go into system restore and revert the drive but when I do it says that I have errors and corrupt files and that i need to correct that problem before I can do a restore, and obviously the disk scan needs to be done on a reboot which sends me full circle to the same issue as described above.
I have carefully searched around the computer for help, I even installed Tune Up utilities to see if a that third party software problem could fix my problem with the Disk Doctor tool.
I am at my wits end with this and am wonder if there is any type of answer to this issue. I really dont want the files corrupt even though I can actually get the computer to boot up and bypass a disk check. Is there a way to get the computer to shut off the disk checking at boot up and at the same time let me use the Tune up utilities to do the disk check instead?
Thanks for any info regarding this issue.
