Cannot stop startup repair

I bought a lenovo last month, with windows 7 pre-installed. It worked fine in the begining, but is having start-up problems now. Says 'windows failed to start', recommends start-up repair (which went on for more than 12 hours with the message 'Attempting repairs', says it has found some disk errors which may take more than an hour to repair).

I tried canceling the startup repair because it took so long with no results, but it gives a message saying it cannot canel the undergoing repair.

What should I do? Should I force shut down the computer? Is there any way I can save my data on it?

Thanks!

Saving data may require that you slave the hard drive to another computer (using a device like this: CoolDrivesSATA and IDE Hard Drive & Optical Drive USB Adapter Kit COMBO )

To check your system, please try these free, bootable diagnostics:

If you have a External HD, you could copy & paste your data.
Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
