Random system freeze-up Dear all:
Just recently installed Windows 7 x64 RC1 (Build 7100) on my HP DV6000 notebook, it has core2duo and integrated video card, etc.
The main issue I am having is that, everything works just fine (even faster than vista sometimes, which originally came with my notebook), but randomly, the system will stop responding (everything about it, the system will even stop sending data packets out over wireless or lan), and the harddrive light will lit up (not blinking just constant lit). The mouse usually can be moved about but it cannot be used to click anything. After a few minutes the system will go back to normal. This is absolutely horrible when I am playing a game, as I would have to keep my fingers on the keyboard just incase the game would "defrost" suddenly.
The same issue also happened when I install the 32bit of Windows 7 rc1 on the same notebook. However this is not happening on my P4 notebook (IBM R40) so I can only assume that this is a hardware issue. But I have no references/parameters on how to trouble-shoot this. Anyone got a clue? | My System Specs |

One question I must ask is did you do a clean install or upgrade. Issues have been caused by people who have upgraded rather than custom install. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build. OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64. No both times clean install. I am doing a triple boot with leopard/ubuntu but I don't think that's affecting this. | My System Specs

You're not alone... I have a dv9000 and am experiencing what sounds to be the exact same thing. It seems to be random, the computer freezes, I can still move the mouse, I can still minimize windows that are up, but anything else I try to do just hangs until the system becomes responsive again and then EVERYTHING happens. I've tried ctrl-alt-del so that I could try and see if something was not responding but ctrl-alt-del doesn't bring anything up until the system is responsive again (which is generally 2-3 minutes).
I also setup the performance monitor to monitor everything thinking that I could see if something was out of whack there, but the graphs for the performance monitor just stop when the computer stopped and pick right back up like normal when the computer picked back up.
CPU load seems to always be pretty low, RAM load seems to always hang around 50% (1GB)

Hey lancepick, interesting...altough I have an integrated intel gma950 card, not a nividia card. but on some level i suppose i am glad this is not something only i am experiencing, hopefully there'll be a fix for this...or perhaps somebody with the know-how could lead us in the right direction. | My System Specs

I have the exact same problem, but I have a Lenovo T61, 2GB RAM using Windows 7RC x64.
I have an Intel Mobile 965 video controller, so it isn't linked just to nVidia. | My System Specs

Just wanted to post an update on my system. I seem to have fixed my issue. I first tried rolling back my chipset driver to the latest vista chipset driver that hp had on its website. That didn't seem to work, so I grabbed the latest driver for my graphics card from nvidia. That was Fri. and I haven't had any issues since. It's probably still to early to tell for sure if it really did the trick but I'll be sure to post back if the issue starts back up. | My System Specs

Hello,
I do have the same problem as well. My win 7 RC x64 freezes by coincidence and continues after 3-5 minutes . And my HDD-light lights up during the freeze.
I have a Asus x56S notebook (which is actually a m51sn) with a geforce 9500m gs, an intel t8300 and 4 gb ram.
Installing the newest vista x64 chipset-driver from intel's page didn't solve this issue.
Newest nVidia drivers are installed, too. | My System Specs | | Random system freeze-up problems? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:07 AM.
