Buying technology for someone is always tricky and, rather than try and recommend specific stuff that's in the shops now, Shaun and I have done a roundup of what we wish could have been in our Christmas stockings over the years.

This, of course, means that some of the things on the list either aren't available now, or are so outdated that you wouldn't want them to be. But the list will give you ideas of what makes a good geek gift and what doesn't.

I'd simply add Half of Bill Gates' net worth.

That would be more than enough to satisfy just about any Geek in the world. With that you could even take trips on the Russian space flights....

An interesting list, have to agree with regards the optical mouse and LCD monitors wouldn't want to be without mine, plus pen drives and USB external hard drives, which was a Christmas present to me last year

Greatest thing so far with 7
I have the realtek 7.1 surround sound chipset. On XP and Vista it was always a p.i.t.a to set up. Install driver, re install driver and hunt for the right checkmark to select. I installed 7 the other day and sound worked great right out of the box. :D
