Done :)
Just completed it. Best of luck with the dissertation :)
Likewise, just finished the survey. Some random thoughts about file sharing:
1. Back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth everyone I knew shared their 78s and 45s (vinyl records.) As technology progressed people began using reel to reel tape decks to record music and share/trade the fruits of their labor. Nobody in the recording industry or even the artists themselves seemed to care.
2. Same with videos. When VHS tapes became available people recorded, shared, and traded. No outcry from the industry or artists.
3. I know several people who do not own a computer today. They are not involved with "illegal" file sharing. But they still record from the radio and TV, especially now that technology has given us cable and satellite broadcast service. Neither the recording industry nor the artists seem to be monitoring these people.
4. Calling something illegal (ie: file sharing) seems to be an indication that the recording industry has forgotten their past history of ambivalence and they now have a serious problem with computers and computer users.
Why are computer users being singled out for prosecution?
You may now all flame this post.
Just quick update. The survey will be online and accepting responses for another week and then I'll start analysing the data that I've got. This means that it is your last chance to complete it for and help push it over the magic 150 responses.
Cheers.
