Windows 7: I'm ignorant about this... what do people mean (osx vs windows)

I keep reading all over the internet that ''windows wasn't designed for security'' and OSx will always be more secure because there are no viruses on it.

What do people mean by that?

That really means that there are so few OSX users that it is not a worthwhile target for the buggers. The rest is just hype.

Yep, even hacking tests have been done and usually the first to be hacked will be Mac OS X.

Exactly as WHS said. It's the same reason that people claim Linux and Macs don't get viruses.
Because the market share is so small compared to Windows users, its not worthwhile to target Apple or Linux users.

I've seen the same tests where OSX falls first, of Safari.

But, the reason it appears OSX is more secure is it is quite simply targeted less, as stated already.

Think about it for a second.
If you wanted to plant some advertising malware, and hit as many people as you possibly could,
which web browser or OS would be your primary choice to target?

It would likely be a Windows system, and Internet Explorer, as they are the most commonly used.
