My first desktop PC was an Amstrad PC2286 with an 8Mhz 286, 640k Ram, 25Mb Hard Drive, and DOS with DOSShell.
The funniest thing was the inclusion of Windows 1 on floppy disc. It was too slow to run it and failed to install because of the lack of speed. Yet it was included in the package. It did however, have an excellent manual with it giving a detailed look at DOS commands. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Studio 540 OS Windows 7 Home Premium CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 Motherboard Dell? I think it was a 486DX clocked at 33MHz with 8 meg of RAM and a 200 meg hard drive. A sound blaster 16 ISA card and an ATI Mach 32 ISA card. Don't remember who made the motherboard, all it had was 6 ISA slots and no onboard anything except the keyboard port. I had to add a multi IO card just to hook up a floppy and hard drive. MSDos 6.2 and windows 3.1. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7 Ultimate AMD64 CPU AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition Deneb 3.7GHz Motherboard Asus M4N68T-M V2 µATX Motherboard Memory 8GB 4GBx2 Kingston PC10600 DDR3 1333 Memory Graphics Card BFG NVIDIA Geforce 220GT 1 Gig DDR2 PCIe Sound Card VIA VT1708s High Definition Audio 8-channel Onboard Monitor(s) Displays 2 x 19" I-INC AG191D TFT Flat Panel Screen Resolution 1280x1024 x 2 Keyboard Logitech Internet 600 Mouse Logitech Wireless Trackman Wheel PSU Retail Plus 465 Watt Case Power Up Black ATX Mid-Tower Case Cooling Stock heatsink and fan Hard Drives 500 Gig WesternDigital SATA-300 Drive Internet Speed 80 Mbps Down 30 Mbps Up Antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials Browser Internet Explorer 10 Other Info HP DVD1040e Lightscribe - External USB2 |

Aside from Commodores and such that my dad had around growing up, my first actual PC that I took to college with me was an 8088 from a company called Leading edge. It was a brand called Datacom West. I think it was local or something because I bought it used from someone. Also gave me an Okidata Laser Printer (B&W). I remember I used to think how cool I was with this computer; especially after I upgraded its video card to the 3dfx Voodoo3 3000. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i3 530 2.93 Ghz Clarkdale Motherboard ASRock P55 PRO/USB3 LGA 1156 Memory 4 GB OCZ DDR3 1600 (PC12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti with 1 GB of RAM Sound Card Realtek HD ALC892 Monitor(s) Displays 20'' eMachines E202HDbmd Glare Panel Widescreen Screen Resolution 1600 x 900 Keyboard Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite Mouse Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite PSU Rosewill Xtreme Series RX750-D-B ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V (750W) Case Cooler Master Centurion 534 RC-534-KKN2-GP Mid-Tower Cooling Standard Case Fans and Stock CPU Heatsink Hard Drives Western Digital 1 TB Caviar Black Edition (7200 RPM) SATA
