Do Teeth Heal Naturally?

I'm not talking about like chips or other series impacts. I'm talking about like if a metal utensil hit your teeth somewhat hard, and it made a mark that was .01 millimeter deep. Overtime does that slight mark fill in?

I looked for the answer but every search lead me to a reading about remineralization...I guess this is the process of restoring the enamel, so it it true that only the enamel can heal itself (remineralize) and whatever is under it can't? Also how thick is the enamel? Because then I could figure out if the collision with the metal utensil likely went beyond it or not.

I look out for myself and curious most of the time, so that's why I ask.

Well, I know that once your enamel is gone, it's gone. So it's important to look after your teeth to prevent enamel decay. Can you tell us about this metal utensil and what happened? I've had a chip on my tooth for quite a while and there's been no problems. A mark of 0.01 millimeters would barely be noticeable. Whether it would fill in through the process of remineralization or not, I don't know - teeth aren't my forte; computers are.

My recommendation would be, if you're seriously concerned, see your dentist. They'll be able to give you all the answers you seek. But, if you ask me, there's nothing to worry about.

something similar happened to me, and my dentist recommended ACT Restoring mouthwash ACT Fluoride Rinse and ACT Restoring Mouthwash, the sites a little children orientated but the stuff works

And why, 3 people with similar problems!! Yeah my case isn't really noticeable. In case someone is wondering, all that happened was I was trying to lick some rice off of the serving spoon (I have long since stopped using metallics and substituted with plastics) so of couse instead of putting the metallic serving spoon in my mouth, I licked off the rice instead. However the spoon still came in contact with my teeth...wouldn't say it was a hard contact or anything, and besides...for many many years, I know I have been clomping down on metal utensils (just eating normally with them...so they were touching the teeth) so this should be insignificant. Since it's not something I can tell happened it doesn't bother me that much.

I learned to avoid this from occuring again, I should lick things with my lips wrapped around the tonge, not with my mouth open as I illogically did.
