    Whats on your mind?

Well there are many things that go through my mind; Life, People, Trust. but right now I am imagining a Network, sort of like an ad-hoc network ...where multiple computers can access the shared files but not alter them. Say I want someone to view some pics or listen to music or check out some documents, ANYONE with wifi would be able to view them ANYONE even if I dont know that person exists. Say...some person curious and bored looking through the networks his wireless USB Adapter or Wireless card has available, All that they would need to do is be in range, click the name of the network which would be open and with no encryption(Security key) and click connect,,thats all... no special settings or anything. The device sharing these files would be a Desktop PC running WinXP. Previous tutorials would suggest to type in the IP to access the files, but thats not what I am looking for, I would rather have a simple way. like a mentioned before, Click and connect.

So whats on your mind? Be honest.... What would you say you think about most often and more frequent? I wasnt specific about some things but as you can see I was specific about what I am trying to achieve. :)

Right now the prominent thing on my mind is that I wish my girlfriend would come home. I miss her right now.

In terms of computers, the main thing going around in my head is getting a working equalizer for my sound output. The app I use to stream music does not include an equalizer, and my bass is a little too loud. It kinda overpowers the treble. I wish to fix it.

And that is what's on my mind.

I've been worrying about the difference between average time and mean time.
I've been speccing some components for a friends pc build and have come across yet another acronym. MTBF.
This stands for Mean Time Before Failure.
But what does this actually mean?
Average seems a pretty useless measure. I live in a block of flats with about 100 residents. Guy down the block only has one leg. Consequently, I have more than the average number of legs!
So if the MTBF is 100,000 operations does that mean that this device will average 100,000 operations before breaking down?
Another factor is the bathtub curve that applies to most electrical devices. They either fail soon after purchase or go on until the built in obsolescence kicks in, then they start failing so the curve is like a bathtub.
This sort of thing keeps me awake at night

What's on my mind? I think Linux developers are trying to learn something from Win XP.
Yeah, seriously. I m installing the new Ubuntu 10.10 beta and the installer reminds me of XP.
