    Zune HD Help.

Well I just received my Zune HD that I had to purchase off ebay from the united states because Microsofts stupid moves to take it away from every one and only sell it within the United states has frustrated me to extents I can't even explain explicit language I can not speak here.

Now I have tried installing the Zune software and not only has microsoft pulled all zune products they have locked every one internationally from installing the Zune software so basically my Zune HD is useless until I can figure out how to install it.

And that's where I need you guys, if you could help me out that would be great if not thats okay thanks.

Swifty, Im not sure about the "locked" aspect of this from outside the US.
i thought it was simply the Market place that was.

Will the installer just not run at all?

Where did you get the Zune software from?
theres 2 places you can get it:
    Zune and Microsoft

I have tried both websites and both of them show the same error, and I have read on the zune forums that it is indeed because they have locked pretty well everything or have attempted to, here is a screen shot of what it shows.

And yes Skul it is what I am seeking help for because without it there is no way I can sync my zune.

You mean that is the error you get when "accessing" that site or when already installing your software?

Do you have auto updates turned on?

That error is related to Windows update, or a service referenced that doesn't exist or stopped.

Also, this information about that error from MS (Suggesting to try the Full Zune Installer):

To obtain all required updates in one package, follow these steps:
    1. Verify that you have administrative rights to install software.
    2. Make sure that you have sufficient free space to install the Zune software. For more information about system requirements for Zune, visit the following Web site: http://www.zune.net/products/software/minsystemreqs.htm (System requirements for Zune software | Zune.net - Zune software)
    3. Click the following link to download the update package: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=104738 (Download details: Zune Client software, version 4.2)
    4. In the dialog box that appears, click Run to start the installation process.
    5. When you are prompted, type the name of the folder where the files will be extracted.
    6. When the files are copied to the folder, open the folder, and then double-click Startzune.exe to install the Zune software.

If you download a very, very, very old version of the software it sometimes fixes issues. Then you just patch up when it asks. I'm pretty sure there is no restriction on international locking for the software. Werent the old zunes released worldwide?

From my understanding, its just the Marketplace that limited.

Also, this error seems to be centered around a service not registered, running, or disabled.

I have found a few fixes by looking around, but TBH, its a bit beyond my knowledge and I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending them, as some involve editing registry settings.

If you go this route, please remember to make a full backup first.

Hopefully someone else with more experience in such issues can help here.
