    Bioshock The Movie!?!?!?!?!

So for the past few nights I've been up till 6 am watching movies, has to do with medical issues and such. But lately I've been running out so I've bee trolling around the internet on movie sights looking for older movies that are not listed on the top box office hits for the week or something.

I came across one article on a movie blog that had the top 10 worst video game movie remakes of all time which had a link to a article about how details have been released about Bioshock being made for the big screen. Being a big Bioshock fan (more the first one than the second one) i nearly soiled myself.

So I'm curious how you guys think it will turn out, with remakes like "Doom" and the whole "Resident Evil series" (Which has made 26M already...)

I personally think it would be amazing along as they keep to the story (unlike most video game movie remakes) and get a good director that is familiar with the games.

    What say you?!?!?!?

It has the possibility of being a good movie if done right.

Generally though, game>movie adaptations are poor.

By itself, Doom wasn't really that bad a movie - it failed because it wasn't Doom. I like the Resident Evil movies, but since I never played the series - I don't know how far it deviated from the game/s.

Street Fighter was an onscreen abortion.

Two different articles i saw, one on G4 and the other on the same movie blog. One had the top ten worst remakes and Doom was like #5, I never played doom but i remember its hype so I don't think any remake could do justice to it, Street fight i think was #1 or #2. The other article described each resident evil movie compared to the games. I've only played Resident Evil 5 but the movies stray pretty far away from the original story but at the same time keep the same characters and such so it not too bad overall.

Doom was indeed immensely hyped and what was delivered was equal in disappointment to the level of hype.

The games storyline was simple: Demons escape from hell and take over space bases. You are a space marine and you wipe them out single handed. Can't really be simpler than that.

Why they chose to completely remove and replace the 'demons and hell' with a more generic 'genetic experiments/virus gone wild' is beyond be.

Drastically altering the core storyline was enough to guarantee that this movie would fail.

If this was just another sci-fi movie not connected to Doom at all, it wouldn't have been hated as much. But a lot of us who actually grew up with this game and have fond memories, couldn't believe they felt compelled to change and ruin it the way did.

Though I'm a bit of a pessimist when it comes to great games being turned in to movies. They tried to make one of Half Life years ago, but Valve said no because they didn't want them to ruin it. And Mass Effect has a movie in the pipeline, too.

Would love to see a BioShock movie if it's done well and sticks to the plot. Comic and game movies can be good if approached correctly, new Batman films for example. However most game movies turn out to be trash. Resident Evil series is terrible. I mean, the RE games series has been milked for all it's worth and the plot has got a bit out of hand, but if you look at the main titles 1-5 for the most part they are amazing and it's only the spin off games that are rubbish.

So I can totally get down with this if it's done the right way and not just some studio trying to make money off the back of it's good name and ruining it.
