    Froyo Officially Released

Any Android users here updated to 2.2 yet? I'm new to Android and wondering if anyone has used this release yet.

Edit: Do I need to backup my photos, data, apps, etc before updating? Or will they all be there and work through the update?

I'm using the Droid X which apparently has a different version number than the other phones (2.2 for everyone else, 2.3.15 for X).

Don't need to back up anything. You need at least 25MB of phone storage available for the update, then you just download it and let the phone do the rest and you're good to go.

Had 2.2 since the HTC Desire's got the update when the update was first sent out, and it's been fine. All your apps should work fine. Most devs updated their apps for 2.2 if there was any incompatibilities.

Once the update's done, some of your apps might have been updated to be able to be moved to SD, which frees up a lot of phone storage.

I received 2.2 about a month ago? I went into Verizon and asked about updating and I was told it would be anyday at the time (2 months ago or so). About a month later i got the update. My phone was buggin out so I took it in and the service employee told me that they were sending out the update in batches to people so some had it already at that point and others did not. I'd imagine by now that most would have it. I played around with the Droid X but I don't know about the firmware.

I have the original droid, kinda wish I had the Droid 2.

I'm pretty sure all the Droid 2's started out with 2.2.

Mine is still on Android 2.1-update1 Eclair build. When I try to update, it says it has the latest version. I think I will have to wait for this update to arrive in India.

Been running Froyo on my Motorola Droid for over 3 months... way before it was available through Verizon. A sweet upgrade, I say go for it ASAP!
