Being a Yankees fan, I have to say I was extremely happy to see the Giants win. Not because Texas beat us, but because of their old ties to New York.

For those that didn't/don't know, the San Francisco Giants were formally known as the New York Giants and played in New York City (Manhattan) from 1883 to 1957 when they moved to San Francisco.

I was hoping to see a Giants/Yankees world series but Texas spoiled that dream

Anyways congrats to the "San Francisco" Giants. Now they have a World Series from New York, and one from San Francisco CA.

Genuine answer.. All of the best players in the world play in the MLB. Think about it, scouts go all over to recruit players (hence our Japanese players, Dominican Republic players, etc). If you fill the league with the best players from around the world, I don't see a problem calling it the world series.

There also have been quite a few American players that were just average and went to Japan and did quite well. This would also indicate the level of play in Japan was lower than the US.
