    What do you guys think?

Unfortunately i think I've had this idea too late but maybe for windows 8

I was thinking of how to open a new instance of an already open program other than the right click on the icon.
How about if you were hover over the icon, and when the thumbnail preview comes up you just click and hold it, then 'drag' it to the right to make a new window?

Maybe those of you who are close to MS can talk to someone on my behalf because i don't know anyone

    What do you guys think?

Sounds like an excellent idea, and I am sure the geeks at MS could make it happen. Here is another one: in the music library it would be nice if you were able to make each column a different color as you can in an Excel spreadsheet; that would be cool.

I know it's not exactly what you're after but if you press [Shift]+[Alt] then click the Taskbar icon then it opens a second + instance of the app.

I've just tested it in IE & Windows Explorer & it works :)

    launching second instance of apps

    Guys

What about win + number. For the first five icons on taskbar. created 6 instances of FF and 2 of winmail. Too bad it doesn't do that for all numbers on taskbar. Maybe a reg edit? would fix it

Unfortunately (in my case) [Win]+[Number] only opens 1 instance of the app then minimize/maximize with every other key press.

To all who have posted, thanks for the information. Tested each and they work great. I like having two to three spreadsheets open at the same time, and the alt+shift is an excellent tool.
