Dear car makers at Chrysler-Benz-Toyota,
Dear car makers at Chrysler-Benz-Toyota,
I recently upgraded to your latest model, Chrysler-Benz-Toyota 7, having used the old model C-B-T eXPort for 10 years. Here are some observations, I hope you’ll take these points in consideration when designing the next generation C-B-T cars:
· I do not like the new navigation system but I seem to be unable to completely get rid of it. In C-B-T eXPort I was used to use traditional, basic maps, but now I often realize the new way to navigate contradicts the old way, showing me routes I do not want to use
· In C-B-T eXPort I had the glove compartment to keep my personal items. It was practical, I could always locate the item I was searching. Now in C-B-T 7 there’s all kind of new compartments, all over the car, and I’m getting confused
· In C-B-T eXPort I had a fully functioning entertainment system, with an AM/FM radio and a cassette player. I could even connect my external Walkman to this system using an adapter. In C-B-T 7 I got this 20 CD changer, with DVD display, and not only am I unable to use my old tapes, but I also have to stop the car and go to the trunk every time I want to put new disks to changer
· I am the driver. I am the person who should alone decide when and how to brake. I do not like you putting an ABS brake system to new models; doing it you are taking some of the decision making process away from me
· Certain peripherals and devices designed to my old C-B-T eXPort are no longer compatible with C-B-T 7. For instance, I can no longer use my spare sets of tyres because they are too small to C-B-T 7. Also most of the engine parts I have in my garage are no longer compatible with C-B-T 7
· Maybe the most important thing: I am used to the basic look of old C-B-T eXPort. A bit rough outlines, nothing too fancy inside, the basic switches and meters all where they should be. In C-B-T 7 you have taken all these beautiful, basic visual elements away, replacing them with shiny new ones so it looks like an AERO-plane. I want the classic basics back. I do not need AERO-plane like cockpit
My question is, what can I do to make my new C-B-T model 7 to look and behave as my old C-B-T eXPort? Why did you design this new model when the old one still is going strong? Why are you ending the service of my C-B-T eXPort in a few years? Why are you forcing me to use a new product when the old one was all I need?
Yours, sincerely
Kari P.

Kari, my friend, I guess its time to ditch toyota.

LOL!! Sounds kinda like some of the rants on here about Windows That does suck though Kari. Another company that thinks they know what you want more than you. What is sad is if you told them you want the most basic model out there, it would be more expensive!!

yes, It took me about half way through to realise that this was a satire myself Mainly because that is /exactly/ the kind of thing people say/do all the time already. It's hard to tell fact from fiction when the two are so closely aligned like that

Was just having a bit fun, thinking how it would look if for instance a car owner compared new and old car as we Windows users compare XP and 7.

Ask the lawyers that forced the automobile manufactures to add anti-lock, lane guidance, seat belt warning, air bags, day light running lights etc. Not that these things don't have merit but in my jaded opinion we are all diminished because of them. We move closer and closer to all being passengers. I still own the first car I purchased a '72 model Datsun/Toyota/Honda 240 XYZ and yes it's a wonderful way back machine. Every time I drive it and oh yes it still drives today it transports me back to a simpler and much more involved driving day and age. This is both good and back as we have come so far with technology but it's bitter sweet when the driving experience is diminished so. Today's drivers are so coddled and preoccupied with communication that driving isn't even secondary but many times ranks in the 3rd or 4th percentile of priority while DRIVING! It's madness and I would love for a license to drive to actually mean something substantial again. Kari I feel your pain but I believe we are on a path of no return to common sense as we unfortunately aren't to be trusting any longer of possessing same !
