Bear Pics From NY, Pig Roast Not sure how old these are, at least 8 years ago during an August Pig Roast at Family Property in NY, just up a Mountain about 2 miles north of Delaware River, closest mapped town is Hancock, NY, ...aboout 30 minutes South on Rt 94.
Anyway, he came into camp from Pig Cooking & Deer Feeder Food still in bag (in preparation of hunting season), ....no feeder the few weeks prior to opening day, ...whatever is NY Law regarding pre hunting feeders. Anyway, he was about 250lb's, young, but off on his own, and away from mom I'd say since that spring. Attachment 121270 Attachment 121271 Attachment 121272 Attachment 121273 Attachment 121274
Have more if intrested.

Yeah that is one of the amazing things I wasn't used to when I moved to the states...Black Bears on the front porch, Deer in the backyard, Humming Birds at the special bird feeder, Raccoon visits and in the late summer waking up because a Skunk passes by the house
I grew up in a rather big city (about the size of Boston) All wild life I saw was either inside a fence or behind bars. No surprise I love it here in the North East
Just be glad the lil guy didn't bring his Mommy along

-DG This is in mountains where for the most part no people live, ...he was untagged and completely wild, I have all footage on 8mm camcorder and thru a pc tv tuner played the video and took snap-shots when I thought would make a good pic. But I know where your coming from, its wonderful to live with the wild, not against it.
Its great to have them in the back yard, this bear though was wild, yet came right into camp and allowed me and other's to get fairly close. It was a great 3-day weekend pig roast thats for sure. Riding motocross bikes, four wheelers, fishing, swims in the river, .....even in Aug. ...Very Cold, but worth it!

We have a few of his cousins roaming around chose to us, however, seeing that his cousin is a brown bear (grizzly) there is little chance of getting the great pictures you have of Mr. Black. . . | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion a4302f OS Win 7 Pro x64, VM Win XP, Win7 Pro Sandbox, Kubuntu 11 CPU AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 @ 3.0 Gbz Memory 12GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB, 2x2GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4350 HD Graphics/Audio with 512MB Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 1. I'm sure you heard of Timothy Treadwell ...Wiki Link
Lets not have a repeat!
There was a few close up's taken of this little guy, ...but the furthest from his mind was people, he wanted FOOD! He stayed around all weekend, and when needed rest room breaks (into the trees, not @ Dunken Donut's) during the nights, wasn't too "relaxing" as most other times usually are. ... Look'n around in 360o hearing all the sounds of the woods will make getting the job done quick and have ya running back into the pop-up! lol
Enjoy them from inside the house or from a good distance away, much more relaxing that way.
Just like SledgeDG said, we were lucky his Momma wasn't around!
So you be careful, family and friends too, ...just never know we're they're lurking if you already see them at home.
I'm sure all know how to paly it safe and to live with them, giving the "right of way" to them. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number POS OS OS3.5 CPU celery Motherboard Good Question ...Unknown Memory memory never forgets Graphics Card OB Sound Card OB Monitor(s) Displays HUGE Screen Resolution 168000000x105000000 Keyboard OB Mouse mouse PSU OEM 65watt Case N/A Cooling OB Hard Drives full Internet Speed 1 Trillion MBps Other Info Still An Awesome Forum! |

The only problem with getting close to a brown bear is you are the food.
Must of the people who live in the area carry two things when out hiking, or just enjoying the great out doors, and that is at least a .357 or larger equalizer. Then there is a canister of bear spray. All smart things to have when you are not planning on feeding the bears or cougars your own body. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion a4302f OS Win 7 Pro x64, VM Win XP, Win7 Pro Sandbox, Kubuntu 11 CPU AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 @ 3.0 Gbz Memory 12GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB, 2x2GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4350 HD Graphics/Audio with 512MB Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 1. Nice country in that area. Probably decent fishing too. I have a lease in the NZ near Williamstown, no black bears but plenty of deer flies when it's time to try and get work done. Going to try those Tred-Not strips next year. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self - Build | Asus K53e Laptop OS 7 x64 | 7 x64 CPU AMD 64x2 5400 2.8 | i5 Sandy Bridge Motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H 3.3 | K53e Memory 4 gigs GSkill ddr2 800 | 8 gigs Adata ddr3 1600 Graphics Card xFx HD5670 1 gig ddr5 | Intel HD 3000 Sound Card Realtek HD OnBoard Audio Monitor(s) Displays 19" Samsung 18" NEC & 37" Toshiba | 15.6 Keyboard Rosewill RK-800G PS/2 Gaming Keyboard | Asus Chiclet Mouse Logitec MX518 | MS w/side buttons PSU hec 485w dual rail | 65w Case CoolMaster Centurion 534+ Cooling Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm Core Contact Freezer Hard Drives 120 OCZ Vertex II ssd | 750 Caviar Black 7200 sata | 500 spinpoint Internet Speed RoadRunner Other Info Logitec x540 5.1 audio
