Please Users of this Hotel -- Spend your Money ELSEWHERE

    Hi all
even in the Bad old days of excessive "Yuppie" conspicious consumption we didn't see THIS type of extravagance.

Now I'm NO socialist by any manner at all but SURELY there seems to be a BETTER way for a Hotel to spend its money than do THIS

BBC News - UAE hotel boasts 'most expensive Christmas tree ever'.

What about an XMAS Bonus for the staff or even donate some money to Muslim / Islamic (or other) charities or fund some research into life saving Drugs or whatever.

I'm not against people earning huge amounts of money but surely with some of that comes a BIT of responsibility to those less fortunate.

I hope the visitors to this particular hotel have more sensible conciences than the management obviously does.

    Cheers

That's just obscene and ridiculous. Ignoring all the bling and jewelry that adorns it, the tree itself is reputed to cost ~$10,000. Some people don't earn that amount in a working year.

I agree, it's fine to be rich and all, but things like quater-million-dollar gold plated toilets are just plain stupid. $250k just for a place to park your ass while stuff comes out of it? Many of us buy houses+cars with that kind of money.

That country better enjoy it's excess while it can because when it's bubble bursts - it's going to burst spectacularly.

In the annals of history, by comparison, Abu-Dhabi's grandiose existence is going to be very, very brief.
