Fake users or bots???

Whatever ya want to call them, dose anybody know anything much about them?

Like how much trouble is it to write a programe or what ever it is ya need to do to get a bot to sign up to a site and make pointless posts like "I'm energized to be one of the new users within your community, and hopefully I'll uncover sufficient time to remain around."

what is the point in it and why do people bother? its not like they are even tryin to scam anybody or sell anything or anything like that, just a pointless single post.

i have noticed a few of this same kinda message the last few days ( not on here it was a diff fourm) with that sentence just worded slightly different each time.

and im sure everybody has come across the same kind thing many times before.

why do people bother there arse, as far as i can see there is nothing to gain from this at all apart from causing a VERY mild anoyance! and wreckin my headin wondering why. lol

First off: the program would not be very hard to write, the only problem you would have is analysising the security phrase, and the email verification. The phrase part of the program would be virtually impossible. You would need a very powerful computer to figure out the phrase in a reasonable amount of time.

The bots could be doing this for any of the following: Server Overload, Advertisements, Spiders, Phishing, Information Gathering.

yea i would understand if there was ads or links or something like that in the post, even if there was loads and loads of them tryin to overload the server but theres not. just a post sayin im glad to be here, i like your site bla bla bla.

maybe its just some gobshite with nothing better to do than write these programs. why dont they do something usefull. lol

anyway i was just wondering what kind of effort people have to go to to get these to work.

btw sorry ya had to move this thread but i thought it "might" of fell under general. lol

Actually to add to the details, the idea of writing the code to figure out the phrase is so complicated that they have actually outsourced the phrase and have people, india-for example-, spend all day typing in the phrase for membership setups.
