Something for the old members ...

I'm very proud that my dad volunteered for The International Brigade during the Spanish Civikl War. He was only a boy.
He was in the same regiment as George Orwell (then Eric Blair)
He would never speak about his experiences there but was much more forthcoming about the second war where he had a desk job and was stationed on Cyprus.:)

This is a bit off topic, but since we are talking about wars, I have always wondered this. What do the British call the The American Revolutionay War, the 1776 one?

Actually, I think they called it the colonial rebellion, or American war of Independence, or similar. Let's see what our English friends say they have been taught. A Guy

The American War of Independence - it is one of the subjects of my favourite Outlander series of books by Diana Gabaldon. :)
