Wow, Honeycomb is going to be awesome

Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) looks like it will blow away all the other previous versions.

Going to be some great tablets and phones out there when it finally gets to completion and circulation.

Has it been said that 3.0 is actually coming to phones? I thought Google announced 3.0 itself was tablet only. I'm guessing if that's the case then eventually phones will get their own incarnation of 3.0.

I don't think it's 100% confirmed phones never going to get it yet, but I guess it's looking that way ATM. Why they would stop at 3.0 for phones and not go forward for them too is beyond me. Keeping the phones under 3.0 and just building for tablets then on doesn't make any sense to me. Guess some split version for phones, who knows? Don't know if anyone knows of that yet or not.

According to tests of the 3.0 VM in the SDK, there's hints of smartphone support, so will just have to wait and see.

Since one of their main objectives is compatibility and interchangeability between the various devices and PCs, I would also think that they will sync the OS editions at one time. For now they just want to sell the expensive tabs - e.g. Xoom for $800 and Galaxy2 will probably also be over $500. A typical top down strategy the industries have often used.

At the bottom of the article there is this:

Android 3.0 brings a new UI designed for tablets and other larger screen devices, but it also is fully compatible with applications developed for earlier versions of the platform, or for smaller screen sizes.

So it sounds like it will make it to 'phones. I hope so
