Here's my greyhounds looking silly in their winter pajamas:

same two as in my signature. my male, Blue (Bonnie Blue Flag) - the blue brindle - sadly passed away last september due to cancer; he was 10. Millie (Balto Millenium) - the white with dark brindle patches - is a retired professional racer and was quite good at it until she was injured & retired... she'll be 11 at the end of the month.

Sorry to hear about Blue Kronckew. Did you rescue these after their racing careers were over? John:)

    thanks, y'all.

Blue was a 'rescue' in that he was found as a pup wandering around the city of Reading by the Police, i got him from the rescue centre when he was around 8-10 mo. old. he was a good dog. they suspect he was from traveller stock (gypsies), they use them for rabbit hunting.

Millie is a retired racer, she was adopted from the local track directly. she'd been selected for adoption by another couple, along with a male, and had been neutered & had her adoption fee paid, they decided at the last minute to only take the male. hence i got her free. she is very placid, never barks, sleeps alot, but when she gets going...she won about a third of her races, placed in the money on another third, was originally from dublin, so she's my irish lass. she also won an important stakes race. she won her next to last race at 10:1 & made her then owner a bundle. she was fouled in her last race & hurt her paw, after treatment & resting up for a month she tried a race but pulled up, so they put her up for adoption. she's fully healed tho. (the male she was supposed to be adopted with was returned the following year, as he did not fit their lifestyle, so i guess she lucked out. guess he didn't match the drapes or something) i got her when she was 4. i can trace all of her ancestors back to 'Pilot' & 'Marcia' in 1820.

One of my nieces has a rescue greyhound who is also a retired racer. I don't know how successful she was (the dog, not the niece), but she's a wonderful animal. (The dog again, not the niece.)

Just a big, very long-legged puppy, really. :)

My next door neighbour has a retired greyhound, she's a lovely dog I think she was about 7 or 8 when she got her. She had to go through a rigorous appraisal before she was allowed to have her, she came from the Greyhound Rescue Society.

They make wonderful couch covers, just flop down take up all the couch and sleep, we used to have a couple of lurcher's a few years ago. One was a Saluki/Greyhound cross and the other was a brindle Greyhound/Collie cross, we got those from the Rescue centre both bitches.
