Windows 7: Splenda

When my doctor recommended that I use an artificial sweetener, instead of sugar, I turned my nose up, not so much due to the possible health risks, but because I loathed the aftertaste of everything that I had tried before. She suggested Splenda, so I gave it a try, and have been using it since.



I find it quite satisfactory in coffee, cerial or anything that I sweeten myself, but when looking for over-the-counter products sweentened with it, I have been quite disappointed. Not because of anything due to the use of Splenda, but because those sugar free products simply don't follow the recipes that regular products do.

For example, I have tried both Smuckers and Great Value jams and preserves, and the sweetness is good, but the basic taste is no where near as good. It is as though they scrimp on other ingredients. I have been getting Splenda Diet Rite Cola, but it was never very good with or without Splenda anyway.

Are there any Splenda products that actually are as good as their sugared counterparts?

I don't use Sugar in hot drinks etc because its not good for you so I use Splenda. You may find this > SPLENDA® of use

Thanks, but I'm not looking for recipes, but over-the-counter products that use Splenda, and have high quality.

You should check out in the health food section Stevia.

I do have some Stevia in the pantry, but haven't used much of it at all, because it seems to take a lot more of it to sweeten things than Splenda does. To be totally accurate, I don't use Splenda, but a product called Splendex, which is merely a liquid form of Splenda. It's easier to measure and use.

Going back to Stevia, are you saying that it is more common in over-the-counter products, or just recommending it over Splenda?

Recommend it over Splenda as a more natural low cal sweetner.

I've never heard of it, til this moment, so you have taught me something. I Googled a couple of articles about it, but it would take a while before I understood well enough to buy any of it, because it is not cheap ($11.34 per oz). At the moment, I'm still looking for suggestions about over-the-counter Splenda products as before.
