Windows 7: New PC with 300€-400$

LOL - you sound like my wife. She always says that she has enough time. But I managed to sneak on into one of her laptops. But that was to fight a heat problem.

Yeah, I just don't find them economical to run in all machines. They are really a luxury for me, not really a necessity. I don't find in most cases that I really am sitting around waiting for the computer. At work I generally value capacity over performance..especially for running virtual machines. With limited work budgets, I'd rather get 2 or 3 mechanical 500GB-1TB hard drives versus a single 120GB SSD.

Not sure either of those would increase your everyday performance as much as the SSD might. They are a nice upgrade, in fact most noticeable upgrade I have done in years. But they aren't priced right for budget builds, in my opinion.

You get better performance in all operations where access time counts - and that is important for the OS. The SSD access time is about 150 times faster than the access time to spinning disks. And that is what gives you the edge in booting or access to programs, The read/write speed is about 4 times faster, and that is not negligible either.

I would get a psu around 700 watts, you can upgrade them if you need
