Good to hear! I just heard some pretty scary incidents on an earlier build of Gingerbread. Are they up to a 2.3.3 or something at the moment?

I just tend to think things are going to be a disapointment around so much hype.
Yea 2.3.3 is starting to roll out today, which includes the Nexus One receiving Gingerbread as well over the coming weeks.

Almost everything works for the 2.3.2 ROM I'm running at the moment. Video recording doesn't work, but once the Nexus One gets Gingerbread, they'll be able to take the camera stuff off that for a better camera. The kernel used on it is promising too. Longest I've gone without charging the phone is nearly 2 and a half days, just write speeds on the SD card when it's in the phone is pretty slow. Only getting like 1MB/s when it's a class 6, so because of the kernel being a bit flaky Quadrant scores aren't as high as they could be with just 1130.

Yeah I'm running Froyo 2.2.1 on a Samsung Galaxy S. Using a XWJS5 rom cooked up in Doc' rom kitchen. Hardcore's speedmod K13C 500Hz kernal. And filesystem converted to ext4 from rfs.

    Quadrant scores are about 1320.

The new beta of Firefox mobile is available on the Android market. Out of all the browsers I've tried it's one of the best. Just my only annoyance is there's no dedicated "Home" button to load the homepage.

I didn't know Firefox had actually come to Android. I only found it with the announcement of beta 5

Okay since you guys seemingly know a lot about Android can you answer this question: Why Android? Why should someone want to buy an android based cell phone etc. Whats so good about android?

I went to this shop one day and asked the shop owner and smth like this happened: Excuse me sir. Whats the advantages of Android
He goes: Well its the latest Software
Puzzled im like: So? Whats so good about that?
He answers: It the latest software.
I go: So what makes it so special?
Gets a bit angry: LOOK! ITS THE LATEST SOFTWARE DAMMIT!

So i come out and go visit a friend of mine who happened to have just recently bought an android based mobile. So i ask him: Cool! But i have a question. What makes android special?

He looks at his cell phone for a while then at me and says: Well... its the latest software?!!!

Open source, highly customisable to how you want it, including down to the kernel used, light weight, runs smoothly, has apps for everything I need, integrates with all Google services through your Google account, comes with very usable GPS software free.
