Holiday in USA advice please

Hi All,

I am going to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks time for 4 days then going on to Palm Springs for the rest of the holiday.

Where I am stuck is there any thing around the either area worth seeing and maybe staying a couple of days was thinking of going to lake havasu, but seem pretty costly for hotels there any advice would be much apprieciated.

If I was going to Las Vegas I would go here

From Las Vegas go to Death Valley. That is a must see - my favorite US park. And I have seen nearly all in the west. It is out of this world. Hoover Dam (as suggested) and Black Valley is worthwhile too - that is a short round trip of about 4 hours.

In Palm Springs, make sure you spend a day driving thru the Joshua Tree park. Absolutely wonderful landscape. Then you can drive thru the valley to the Salton Sea - very unusual, but smelly (H2S)

Lake Havasu is pretty dull - not worth it in my book. Lots of boaters.

I'd go see the Grand Canyon. While not super far from Vegas, still a little ways away. Worth it though.

In Palms Springs, I'd go on the Tram up to the top of San Jacinto Mtns.

This is from my trip in 99.

And this is the Hoover Dam when I went there in 06.

Go to Las Vegas last! Do not spend all your cash before the rest of the holiday.

Oh and drinks are free in Vegas if you have money on a table or in a video poker machine. Just tip the girls a bit.

You should've called ahead... I'm sure Brink would've put on a show for you.

LOL - when I was there was probably before Brink was even born - over 40 years ago.
