Anyway, to create a discussion point for this topic: Anyone here used the new 2nd gen Intel i7? Is it as good as they say it is? I'm kind of anxious to find out, as I haven't run anything like it before. I've got a plain ol' Intel Pentium dual core right now, so I'm sure this new one is going to blow my mind.

Welcome to 7 Forums and congrats on the new laptop.
Only you will be the judge of how good it is for YOU.
Make sure you do a Recovery Disc and then get rid of all the garbage, that you don't want, that came with in the box.
Check to see if all the driver's are update(Device Manager...yellow signs)
Then put it to the test by doing things you normally do with a computer.
Report back in a week and let us know how you machine is running.

It should be a good chip (I've got a laptop on the way with the same one)

I've heard only good things about it so far, so I'm definitely looking forward to using it. Sadly, it might be close to a month before it actually arrives. The anticipation is going to drive me nuts, I'm sure, but it's definitely gonna prove to be worth it in the end. The main thing I'm looking forward to is being able to render videos smoother, use programs like Adobe Premiere without unnecessary lagging, and do more multitasking, like being able to run Skype and this MMO I play at the same time without cranking up the heat to 82C... (the max was like, 90C, I think?)
