    Laptop Suggestion

    Hello Everyone!

I am looking to buy a new laptop to replace the old piece of junk I have now. I'm not looking for anything outside of my means, but want to make an upgrade.

Here's the criteria in no particular order:

    1. 300+ GB HDD
    2. 3 to 4 Gigs of RAM (Preferably 4)
    3. Good battery life
    4. $500 or less
    5. Decent webcam (for good Skype calls)

I would be using it for school mainly (CS Major) and I'm looking to keep it for the next 2 years or so. If anyone has advice or anything that they'd like to share I'm open to it. Also, if you guys could post links to the laptops you suggest I would appreciate it! Thanks!!

If you have to have an optical drive this one will do, and its just under budget ($499)
    Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS5742-6814 Notebook Intel Core i3 380M(2.53GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 320GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphics
As you can see I am partial to Acer, they make good laptops and are priced very reasonably. I picked one up earlier this year, it's an awesome rig for what it is.

With those (modest) specs and the price range there are a lot of choices. But Acer is definitely a bad choice and Newegg is high price for complete PCs (although I buy all my bits from them when they have a sale).

I suggest you look into the Sunday ads of BestBuy, Office Depot and Staples. I would be looking for a Toshiba or HP. And this one has good specs: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+...&skuId=1814118

    Thanks for the input :)

While that is a bit outside of my range, the Sunday paper might prove to be helpful
