I find Facebook more annoying for its spam than anything else.

At least you won't get a virus, but you may get carpal tunnel.
That's why they also developed horizontal working devices

I'd prefer keeping work/family/friends as separate entities
Fair enough, it's not a bad idea.

Not knowing if your "friends" have their security settings set properly
But if it cannot "hurt" you, because you don't click on stupid stuff, doesn't really make this a big concern.

I've heard from several people about getting viruses from there(granted, I don't know their AV setup on their computers, but still...)
Some people get virsues left and right using the Internet, while others don't. I think those who do, would likely get taken by something on facebook, while somebody who surfs the web safely likely wouldn't get anything from facebook. I know that I never have.

I see many things promoted online that look like they might be interesting...sometimes deals, sometimes contests.......but I can't see them because facebook won't let you see anything unless you sign up and join. Well, I don't like my hand being forced like that....so I refuse to join.
Yeah, being forced to join to me is a bummer. It's like a forum site that will only let you view threads for a certain number of clicks before you need to join. Some of us like to lurk and just read.

I know that there are some benefits to it, but to me, they don't outweigh the negatives.
And at the end of the day, that's what really matters. I feel completely the opposite, so hence the reason that I do use it.

How about that....a calm and rational discussion of disagreeing viewpoints! Not so common online.....another reason I'm so fond of this forum.

    Noob,
It would be nicer if Hopalong was nicer to me!

Yep, signed up. I rarely use it, though (once every 10 months).

Signed up for a page ages ago but I initially thought it was totally naff. I could not see the attraction and I kept getting invites to take part in games and quizzes that seemed pointless and banal.
Recently however I've been using it more. I've realised I can use it to foist my radical left wing viewpoint and militant atheism on the friends of friend. Great stuff. Egotistical but fun.:)

Yea. What annoys me most is commenting or "liking" a friend's post, then getting a million notifications from other people commenting, most of them I don't know.

Wish there was an "unsubscribe" thing, or a thing to set to not show notifications from people you don't know who comments.

That's a big affirmative. It's great but you most be in control and not get sucked into the vortex !
