Hi all
I was able to get some Olympic tickets quite easily at home -- same as some colleagues of mine in Germany and Luxembourg.
I have a number of colleagues who in the UK had to go through some rediculous "Casino" type of gambling for their tickets whereby they had to apply for loads of tickets via some strange lottery system -- and the only people who actually got tickets were people who applied for 1000's of GBP's worth of the most expensive tickets -- and even then they only got a fraction of what they applied for. Had they actually got the full allocation they probably wouldn't have had the money to pay for them.
And to cap it all even the small percentage who actually GOT some tickets -- they won't know for maybe another 3 weeks or so what events they actually got tickets for.
What a mess -- If I were a resident of E.London where the games are being held I'd be upset -- what happened to the Olympic Ideal in Seb Coes' bid for the games where he said everybody should have a chance to see and take part in this event especially people from some of the poorer parts of London -- although London is an incredibly wealthy city -- probably would rank in the top 20 as a COUNTRY as far as GDP is concerned, E.London has some of the poorest people anywhere in W.Europe.
Seems the "Corporate Hostiliy" barons have grabbed all the UK allocation.
Actually using Freedom of Information act Corporate sponsorship tickets for a lot of the popular events for the UK allocation is running at 63% so I'm not surprised -- although a lot of these companies such as INVESTEC (S.AFRICAN bank), EDF(French) etc etc are NON UK businesses.
Lottery's are not always fair -- especially this type of one which is totally NON transparent.
This is a classic textbook case of how NOT to organise something.
Cheers
