News/Discussion: Apple keynote at WWDC2011 (summary)

"So, Mac sales are up. Hardly surprising, but good news nonetheless.
Mac OS X Lion:
-over 250 new features
Consisting of multi-touch gestures. I’m pretty sure these already existed. Maybe they just improved them. Oh, it’s the ‘physical realism’ that’s new…
Full screen applications. We already know about this from the original keynote about Lion. Apple basically explains how it will be easily for developers to incorporate it into their apps. Apple has also made ‘a number’ of their apps work full screen as well (Safari, iMovie etc.). The transition to full screen is pretty neat.
Photo Booth has some face detection stuff (and full screen).
Mission Control. Again, we’ve all heard about it. It sounds rather like..."

(i'm afraid the quotes button wasnt working on my phone, but the above 'snippet' does comply with the seven forum external quote rule)

so, what are your opinions on the announcements from Apple? Personally, they seem to have fixed every problem in iOS that made people, ahem, 'alter', iOS.

you can watch the whole keynote here > Apple - Apple Events - Apple Special Event June 2011

i'm more impressed with the iCloud features to be honest, and absolutely stunned with the fact that they've blatantly just copied android by adding notification center(notifications) and copied RIM with iMessage(Blackberry messenger), but still pretty cool features none the less

ah, thanks for the link I hadn't actually watched it yet (I followed several live blogs for the info)
yeah, the iOS 5 features were cool, but most of them were already available through 'alternative' sources
Yeah, Apple do seem to be able to get away with copying others pretty cleanly. iCloud does sound awesome, but I do hope it will still let us store moview and music etc on our devices. Any idea how iMessage will work? (ie will it be like the AirDrop proximity stuff)

nahh, it's just like FaceTime, but with messages, but it's also built into the messaging app, it'll be good to have but it just screams blackberry messenger to be honest, but i'm sick of not having any messaging solution on iPad 2, It'll be using the 3g network, similar to how ebuddy works at the moment but with email addresses as the contact point rather than phone numbers(like facetime)
