I'll just like to point out, Applications in Windows 8 will not be restricted to HTML5/CSS/JS that is only being added to the current means of writing an application not replacing. You'll be able to continue using .NET, JAVA....etc. But now you can add HTML5/CSS/JS to the mix.

And understand, tho same old Windows interface is still there and you can switch back and forth between the two or just the old desktop interface. So there, you have a choice.
