And they earn that award with a lot of hard work and being prepared to share their knowledge with others.

You've only got to look around the newsgroups to find out how hard they work to achieve the award and be able to keep it, some for several years, and all this is done in their own time without pay.

I'm lucky to be able to call a few of them friends.

    Nominate an MVP
It takes truly exceptional, voluntary contributions to Microsoft-related social and technical communities, [that could include Sevenforums] coupled with outstanding community leadership and a willingness to freely share deep technical knowledge with others, [that could be a description of a Seven Guru here] to become a Microsoft MVP.

    To nominate yourself
or someone you know to be considered for an MVP Award, e-mail the information requested below to mvpga@microsoft.com. Here you can outline how your nominee voluntarily and actively participates in online and/or offline community activities that focus on Microsoft technologies.

    Nominee’s name
    • Nominee’s e-mail address
    • Country where the nominee lives
    • Nominee’s main spoken language
    • One or two Microsoft technologies or products that are the nominee’s area of expertise (for example, Microsoft Office/Excel, Developer Tools/Visual C#, Entertainment/Windows Media Center, Server/Windows Small Business Server [or, Windows 7] )
    • Specific examples of online/offline community activities in which the person you are nominating participates (for example, newsgroups, forums, blogs, user group interactions, podcasts, community presentations, Web sites)

Successful candidates will be contacted by a member of the Microsoft MVP Award Program team.
    Thank you for your interest!

They ought to give it to you just for making your Windows themes and wallpapers available to the "community."

Anyway, they way they put it, if you apply (nominate yourself), you will only hear from them if they decide to give it to you, so the worst that could happen is you won't ever hear from them which doesn't sound too bad to me.
