Forum Search issue: Google search links don't work Fx 5.0

Hi:

Not sure if this is the correct place to post, so please move, as needed.

New problem just appeared:
Google search links ONLY HERE AT THIS FORUM don't work in Firefox 5.

Same links work fine in IE9.
Absolutely zero/none/nada issues with Firefox 5 anywhere else, including every other forum, any other website or hyperlink.
It is only HERE, on this forum's standard Google searches.
Google searches themselves with Firefox are also fine.
The regular forum topic links all work fine, too.
I do not keep cookies, but I have manually deleted all history, verified that there are no cookies and restarted Firefox, to no avail.
(And, no, I'm not infected.)

I run a search here at this forum & only this forum, it brings up a Google page of hits, and....
...When I click a link, nothing happens.
No spinner, no 404, no other error, no re-direct.
Dead.

This is exactly the same Firefox profile with the same extensions I used with FF 4, here at this forum, with no issues.

So, it must be something with how the Google search is set up here at sevenforums.com, relative to Firefox 5???

Can anyone shed any light?

Much obliged!

Hello MM,

What add-ons/plugins do you have installed in Firefox?

Update:

Sorry -- should have tried this before posting.

Firefox safe mode works fine, suggesting it's an extension causing the problem.
Most likely suspect is NoScript.
I also run ABP; all my plug-ins (Java, Flash Player) are UTD.
The other extensions are mostly appearance/performance, not security.

But, I've never had a problem with NS+ Firefox here before.
And even "enabling all" in NS in FF regular mode doesn't work.

So, it's something about this forum's Google Searches + Firefox + NoScript.

Any idea how to change my settings, short of disabling NS when I visit sevenforums.com???

Thanks for the trouble!

PS Let me know if you want the whole list of extensions....

See if allowing http://ajax.googleapis.com in NoScript may be able to help.

OK, I just added it to the whitelist.
I assume that's what you meant?
(Never had to manually add anything to the NS whitelist before....)

I will logout here, close FF, restart and try it, just to be sure.

I know folks are having all sorts of issues with things-Google these days (google toolbar, gmail, etc) with the new FF and IE9 builds.

This seems sooooooooo "one-off" -- only here, only with the Google search feature, only now.

I'll be back ASAP with an update.

Thank you, Brink -- YOU ARE THE BEST!

Thanks!

I lied.
I *thought* I had added that link to the whitelist.

However, I just restarted FF, went back into NS options and it wasn't in the whitelist.
So, I apparently did not successfully allow it when I thought I had.

Moreover, the "allow" button is greyed-out, so I cannot add anything or allow any URL.

Just tried again restarting FF with a "run as admin" from the desktop shortcut - same thing.

Since disabling ABP had no effect, I assume this is due to something in NS.

I have no idea why I cannot "allow" a URL.

So, until I hear back, I will try the following:
1) Consult with the help section of the NS developer
2) See what happens at sevenforums.com on my laptop (same FF and same extensions)
3) Perhaps try reinstalling NS

Any other suggestions?

I don't use NoScript, so I'm not real familiar with it's settings. If it's still listed in a block or untrusted list, then remove it there as well.

Otherwise, I suppose that uninstalling NoScript may be the only way.

I've posted over there at NS forums to see.

The one weird thing is that some folks running it were given (during routine updates checks a few weeks ago via AMO) a "RC" build.
There was some chatter about it at the Fx boards (why was a RC build pushed out via AMO?), but no one had any known issues.
It has updated a few times since then.
I've had no problems until today.

So, some folks are running a "stable" version, some folks seem to have gotten a "RC" build (by mistake).

I suspect that they will tell me to uninstall and reinstall it.

So, boils down to 2 issues (both new):
1) I can't do Google searches here at this forum (and apparently ONLY this forum).
2) (Unrelated) the NS options don't seem to be working properly.

Thanks for trying.

I'll post back with updates, as available.

In the meantime, I'll need to search here with IE9 (yuck!) or Fx without NS.

Weird.

Ciao!

Using No-Script here and can do Google searches from the site just fine with this site whitelisted. Perhaps it's something else?

You can get the newest stable version here where it says Direct Download on the page- NoScript - get it!

And the changelog states that the last RC version RC0 is the same as the stable 2.1.1.2

Turns out it was a bug in that particular version of NS.
Another version was released just today, and updating to it solved the problem.

Nice to know I haven't yet lost what's left of my feeble mind.

Now I can return to my original mission, which was to provide links to some of Brink's (et al's) outstanding tutorials to help a member at another forum!

Thanks for your help and sorry for the trouble!

Have a safe and happy 4th!
