To what extent do you use Sound effects in Windows?

I am sitting re-typing a resume for a job application on my laptop (W7). Everything is silent but for my lightening speed typography (hell yeah!).

    Suddenly it stikes me: silence.

Does the sound effects in Windows help you in any way doing browsing, typing or any non music-movie-gaming related task?

PS I am available for jobs HIRE ME!

Only if I have turned on my speakers to listen to a video previously, do I hear the system sounds. Otherwise I prefer them off. I remember the first time that lady popped up to tell me my Avast had updated!

Sound effects require a resonable amount of CPU time which can be annoying if your CPU is not very powerful.

Other than great sound for videos and music, I like subtle sounds for notifications of all kinds. Hate it (!) when some blast of sound unexpectedly jars me out of my concentration while I'm doing something. . .

Sound of the sounds can make Widows 7 rather fun and very relaxing, depends how you have your sounds set up. Try different sounds, it can be really funny as well.
