Yes, that would be one of my biggest peves with how Windows deals with USB devices. You would think that by now it would be smart enough to know thats the same fricken printer and not a new device.

I do it on occasion with my mouse and iPod and it drives me up the wall. I'll forget to make sure I'm using the same port and WHAM! it starts installing drivers.

What really annoys me is when you end up with phantom printers or wireless connections that come back no matter how many times you delete them. I've gotten to the point that I have a digram showing what is connected to what port so when I take my tower out for maintenance, I can plug everything back the way it was and avoid the whole mess.

Hmm, this doesn't happen to me.
I use several USB flash drive in different ports. After the initial driver install, they just work. This is the same if I move the cables for my printer and scanner too.

This happens for my USB Sound Card. I have a secondary sound card for when I am DeeJaying on my PC (I stream out, and have USB sound card for CUE), and when I look in sound setup for VirtualDJ, I have to reset the device every time!! (and this is on a USB HUB that sits under my monitor)!!!
"USB Headphone set - 12"
What!? I do NOT have 12 usb headphone sets.. 24 usb ports on my PC and it does that...
