Just found an old 80's radio station playing Billy Ocean and tried to "jam" with my 5 yr old son (my 7yr old daughter thinks I'm most uncool and call me an "olden days man") - think I popped a hip

It rained a bit here early this morning. Maybe 0.15 in.
The wind is blowing dust again already.

The ground looks like it never rained a drop.

It comes in little drops of water out of the sky and sometimes it comes down in sheets of water from big, black clouds. Sometimes, it even rains all day.

When was the last time you had any rain and more's to the point, how do you cope with these long, dry periods you've obviously been having?

Thanks for that reminder, Andrew. I kinda thought it was something like that. :)

There's a fairly wide disparity on when we've received the last rainfall in San Antonio. The official records are compiled at the San Antonio Int'l Airport. But I don't know a single person who actually lives there so individual neighborhoods have slightly different data. My specific neighborhood has received less than 3 inches of rain so far in 2011 as recorded by a local and official NOAA monitoring station. The Airport has recorded about twice that. Normal rainfall for the first 8 months of any given year averages about 25 inches with a yearly average of about 32 inches. I think the last rain I actually witnessed was in early June when we had a brief thunderstorm in late afternoon. It dumped about .03 inches. A real frog drowner. (Sarcasm intentional.)

I'm coping by conserving local water and using imported water. In other words, I'm drinking more Carling Black Label and Guinness Extra Stout.
