It's such a shame the Zune never made it big.

I admit it, when the Zune first came out, I thought it was a knockoff of the ipod, that the build quality seemed to be more of a plastic brick than a slimmish metal fixture. But, the thing I really liked about it was its operating system it ran, it was WAY better and sleeker than the ipod ever was or will be. Then the Zune HD came out, seemed to be another itouch knockoff, but prettier.

But Microsoft never made it big with the Zune and it's such a shame! I mean, has anyone of you installed and used the Zune Software 4.7? Holy crap! It destroys itunes! It's so much prettier and functional and practical. And it also has a better shuffle algorithm than itunes, I swear, it's like it had musical preference.

Now here we are, it looks as so Microsoft is killing the hardware brand and keeping the Zune Software, which sucks since it has such potential...

Speaking of such, I've noticed in the past decade that I've never ever seen a Zune advert on tv or on the internet for that matter, but I've seen loads of ipod, ipad, and iphone adverts compared to it. It makes me wonder if it was intentional on Microsoft's behalf, maybe to give apple back it's dignity since it almost went under in the 90s because of them.....

Hmm. Yes, you're right. In terms of practicality, when it came to the hd, it outright killed the Touch with that OLED screen, I modded mine to just drag & drop into the zune itself without the software. But where I think it shined was the tons of apps for no cost and the possibility to be OS hacked.

I guess it never took off due to the flood of commercial ads put out by Apple. The popularity clouded the potential of the true power behind the Zune.

Edit: The 'ol brick still has use even today, it can be modded to be used as an external HDD
