Most welcome and nothing to be sorry about. The faster ram is going to be sweet ! Please keep us up to date with lots of pictures throughout the build and when completed.

I chose Intel 510 over the others for one reason. Intel products have always worked as they should, reliability.

I choose Crucial/Lexar for the same reason. I've used Lexar CF and SD cards in my Canon's and also have a pro reader and they are bullet proof.

Great thread which leads to a great build.

Only thing I would add to the conversation is that your RAM choice will have very little to do with your overclocking ability with the SB 2600K. However, should use use all four memory slots you will put more stress on the memory controller on the processor which will limit your OC.

I have tested the 2133MHz G-skills you are considering and can say they worked just fine. After testing over 7 sets of RAM I found the Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 8GB kit to be the best performers on my system.

So 16GB is the wrong choice? Would I be alright with 12GB of the same G.Skill 2133Mhz memory? And I'm not a fan of Corsair RAM. A little too expensive for my taste and not all that much better than other brands like G.Skill, Kingston, Mushkin etc.

Many members here use G.Skill ram. I would double check with the mobo manufacturers site to see if the ram you are considering is on there approved list and if so....full ramming speed ahead !

Is there any reason why you want 12gb of ram? The more Ram you have the harder it is to overclock. depending on just how hi you do want to overclock that is, if at all.
Check your motherboards QVL to make sure the ram is compatible. G Skill is nice ram and you pay a premium for Corsair as it lends itself to overclocking and has lower latencies than many others. I liked OCZ ram until they sadly stopped making it.

I'd prefer 16GB so I'm future-proofed. This will be final build for a while to come so I have no plans of upgrading it in the future. So would you recommend Corsair over G.Skill?

Quick question. Would buying the ASUS Maximus IV Extreme Z be worth it? It's just that I've read that it's not the best Z68 board out there even though ASUS advertises it to be. What would my other options be from PCCG?

Can I install Icon Packs designed for Build 7600 on to Build 7601?
Can I install Icon Packs designed for Build 7600 to Build 7601? An Icon Pack was saying install on to 7600 only and after I checked my regedit, I learned that I have 7601 (Probably SP1, I don't know). Would I have any problems if I install the icon pack? Thanks.
