I think people really need to cool off about Windows 8.

The thing I must say is I do not want to log into the Start Screen, I maybe old school, but logging into the Desktop is was better. :)

Well Mac has resorted to suing and having banned anything using the android platform, they already had the new galaxy banned in europe.
FOSS Patents: Apple sues Samsung over Android-based devices -- Samsung virtually certain to retaliate

I personally looked over the patents in question and don't get it.
Basically they are claiming rights to all touchscreen interfaces at this point.
...this is the basic reason I don't support Mac.

They're shotting themselves in the foot here though being as how samsung actually manufactures a good percentage of their hardware.
I'd expect to see apple trying to sue Microsoft over patents with Windows 8 seeing how that might have the potential of doing serious damage to their imaxipad...

apple is ridiculous! They start an idiotic market, they should expect people to compete in it and not try to piss on everyone so they get out.

I honestly haven't been able to make myself interested in windows 8 as of this point in time.

Personally I think they should leave the touch screen market to android and ...I can't believe I'm saying this. Mac.
I think Windows 8 might really be worth taking an interest in at least performance wise since there are people that claim 8 is actually better to play the latest games than 7 is, and also, I've played with a couple builds and it looks like the Aero theme is the default for Safe Mode, no more Windows Classic.

It's awesome since Microsoft is designing the system to run on ARM systems, that benefits the rest of us since we'll benefit using a very resource light system!

This would be a BIG mistake. The mobile market with the ARM processors is where all the money will be made in the future. The growth of this market is phenomenal and the numbers are far bigger than those of PCs.

If Microsoft stuck with PCs only, they would go under pretty soon. Many PCs will be replaced by tablets and even in the PC market we will see the ARM processors. For that very reason MS got in bed with Nokia so that they have a hardware manufacturer to go with. Same reason Google bought Motorola (besides the patent windfall).

I think Windows8 is mainly targetted at the mobile market and the PC will be an accomodation. But I think that is good and I would not worry. Eventually we will all have some mobile device and will be happy if there is compatibility of those with our PCs. Who wants to muck around with flimsy Android or the OS from the island called iOS. The only solid alternative for me would be QNX.

The latest games maybe... but every game I tried on one of the leaked builds was borked in some way. Not that I'm too bothered, as it was a pre-beta, but still.

I have to admit, I'm not excited for Eight the same way I was for Seven. Even with all the pills and such to unlock stuff my overall impression was "Meh, it's just like Seven but buggier" I can see myself doing the same with the Beta and RC as I have with the other builds so far, install it, play with it for a week, get p'd off with it, and go back to Seven.

I'm perfectly content with Windows 7. It hasn't left me struggling in any particular area. While I will get into Windows 8 once it's out, I have 0 interest in obtaining it, playing with it or reading much about it.

Oh dear, I just read that the latest known build doesn't have Windows DVD maker....

This might a tragedy since Windows DVD maker is like the best DVD authoring software I've ever used.

Oh dear, I just heard windows 8 isn't even real, it's all a conspiracy of the liberal media. Meant to destabilize family values.
