I think people really need to cool off about Windows 8.

I've been reading some articles about Windows 8 and there's people that are freaking out about the interface change and how it's awful and the touchscreen interface is a disgrace. Keep in mind, that's the Start Screen. Microsoft isn't killing an interface that made them successful for the sake of tablets.

There isn't a Start Menu anymore, it's a Start Screen and it's replacing the menu.

Yeah, I think the same thing. It's not much to be worried about.

I thought I heard that you could disable the Start Screen and just use the Start Menu?
    I don't know, I haven't followed windows 8 very closely since m3.

I honestly haven't been able to make myself interested in windows 8 as of this point in time.

Personally I think they should leave the touch screen market to android and ...I can't believe I'm saying this. Mac.

Nor I. The biggest new 'drawcard' is the touch capabilities, which I have no use for on a desktop.

I'm waiting for the 'proper beta' this time before I decide. I just hope it's better than Gnome3 and Unity... all you can ask for really.

and ...I can't believe I'm saying this. Mac.
They started it all - and are already starting to lose ground. Status quo remains :)

Well Mac has resorted to suing and having banned anything using the android platform, they already had the new galaxy banned in europe.
FOSS Patents: Apple sues Samsung over Android-based devices -- Samsung virtually certain to retaliate

I personally looked over the patents in question and don't get it.
Basically they are claiming rights to all touchscreen interfaces at this point.
...this is the basic reason I don't support Mac.

They're shotting themselves in the foot here though being as how samsung actually manufactures a good percentage of their hardware.

To use a touch screen on my rig I would need a long stick. I like to sit back so I can see the whole thing and enjoy the view. A pretty face don't make a good woman but if the inside is good also then the pretty face is a plus. Beauty is skin deep, but ugly goes clear to the bone.

People enjoy speculating about what a new OS will bring. Heck, I hear sometimes they even make forums for it

Well my only reason for finally coming to win 7 was because I wanted dx11 support for my games and vista was a crash fest for me even after weeks of debugging I just could never get it completely stable.

I think that might be a possibility since Microsoft probably wants to keep users happy. I think that might be true since I think since the M3 build, the Aero Basic theme had the Start Menu a lot more changed and a bit more animated. But Aero's Start Menu remains unchanged...
